Pitlochry Cycling.

As well as being excellent for local walks Pitlochry also has superb cycling opportunities - both on road and off. On the road we have North, South, East and West routes of varying lengths and off road there are a wealth of tracks to follow - all can be completed from home. The following, hopefully, gives a taste of what’s on offer.

Road Rides

North/East - starts with a climb (steep in places) up onto Moulin Moor followed by a descent to Kirkmichael where a  Cafe stop is essential. The return back over the moor gives superb views over town.

South - we have two loops the longest of which goes down to Dunkeld. There are various options but all have some stiff wee climbs. On clear days the views are excellent.

West - again we have loops of different lengths in this direction. All are basically rounds of LochTummel and the longest 40 miler is the route used for the Etape Caledonia Sportive - which I completed in May 2023  in 2hrs 50 min.

North - these routes leave town on Sustrans Route 7 and again we have loops of different lengths and difficulty. I have become a Sustrans Volunteer for Route 7 litter picking.

Off Road Mountain Biking - Susan isn’t keen on this but I have joined up with a keen group of locals to explore local tracks from town. The tracks give access to some fantastic places and views.
