August update.
Tomorrow is the last day of August and we've still not had any true summer weather in Cumbria. Despite this we've tried to get out and enjoy the countryside as much as possible.
On the 19th August we headed to Borrowdale and had a damp wander over Castle Crag, High Spy and Maiden Moor. There were periods of heavy rain but also some dry spells which gave some good views. The blooming heather was, at times, a wonderful site.

On Sunday 20th August we went for a ride from home and headed to our Favourite Lakeland Café - Sykes Farm Café, Buttermere. The roads were quite quiet but we did get caught up in a rural traffic jam on the way out.

We've wandered down to the coast at Harrington on many evenings. These pictures taken on Friday 25 August brought home how much earlier sunset now is.
Saturday 26 August was a better day with no rain and even some sunshine. We headed back to Buttermere and completed a favourite round of old - taking in Whiteside, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor and Whiteless Pike. Despite it being the Bank Holiday Weekend the hills were quiet and we enjoyed solitude for much of the day. The blooming heather was again outstanding but in places there were signs that Autumn is not far away with bracken and trees beginning to turn.

Sunday 27 August was another overcast and breezy day but at least it stayed dry. We headed out for a morning spin on the lanes of Allerdale. We managed to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic by choosing roads less travelled.
Grey skies all the way but an enjoyable ride.
As we move into September we're hoping for an Indian summer and then a golden Autumn before winter sets in.
