A little bit of everything.
The last week has been very dry and bright in Cumbria but a keen easterly wind has kept temperatures down. I've been lucky to have had the opportunity to do a variety of outdoor activities.
On the Friday of May Day Bank Holiday weekend I was out with Fix the Fells working on path maintenance in Glenridding. My group worked on the path up to Sticks Path then climbed Raise before working on the Kepple Cove zig-zigs on the way down. We only saw one couple out on the hill - amazing!!!

Overcast but with good visibility.
Looking to Helvellyn.
Dropping into Kepple Cove.
Saturday saw Susan and I heading out early for Wasdale to complete the superb Mosedale Horseshoe. It was a bright day but the wind kept temperatures low and made for hard going at times. We thoroughly enjoyed the route although the final descent off Yewbarrow wasn't pleasant and Susan bashed her knee on a wee scrambling section.
Heading for Wasdale Head.
Walking into Mosedale.
Not much water in the Becks.
Above Black Sail Pass.
Heading up Pillar.

Starting the steep descent.
Glad to be down after a wee bit of cursing!!!
If anything the wind was stronger on Sunday so we eventually decided to stay low and have a walk around Ennerdale Water something I've not done for years and Susan had never done. The wind formed large waves on the lake and we were glad not to have gone on the hill despite the blue skies over head. An enjoyable wander.
Heading for Anglers Crag on the C2C track.
A bright day.
Looking down the valley across a choppy lake.
Holding the gate for the 'slow coach'.
A woodland stretch.
Looking back down the lake.
Time for lunch.
Looking across to Anglers Crag.
A final look down the lake.
On Bank Holiday Monday we stayed local and had a pleasant wander to and along the coast. The sun shone, the wind continued to blow and I and an ice cream!!!!
Strolling north along the coast at Harrington.
Taking in the sea air.
Walking back to the Harbour.
Treat time!!!!
On Wednesday Susan cycled to work and I joined her. It was cool and windy in the morning but very invigorating. By the evening it had warmed up but the cycle back from Whitehaven into the wind was hard work.
My final outing of the week - on Thursday - was up to Black Crag in Borrowdale with Jeff to climb the classic Troutdale Pinnacle. As we walked up to the crag we realised that it was 10 years since our wee accident on Skye and that we were lucky to be still getting out to enjoy the odd route.
Jeff making his way up to the crag.
Looking up to the Pinnacle.
The 'famous' traverse pitch.
The tricky section onto the pinnacle.
Safely belayed - now it's my turn!!
Starting up the pinnacle.
Jeff enjoying his day out.
An easy section.
The final move on to the pinnacle.
An airy belay on the pinnacle.
Jeff topping out and that view down Borrowdale.
Posing at the top.
A last look at the crag now in sunshine.
