Varied and relaxing week.

Last week was varied and very relaxing. The weather was much more changeable than of late but we made the most of it in Cumbria and on a wee Scottish break.
On Tuesday I had a walk around Buttermere. It was calm and there were some good bright spells. The Autumn colours were good to see.

On Wednesday Susan started a short break from work. Typically this marked a change in the weather with the arrival of wind and rain. We had a pleasant walk up Latrigg via the Cycle track and then had a great lunch in Abraham's Cafe.

On Thursday we drove up to Symington on a very windy but dry day. We abandoned plans to climb a hill and settled on a walk along the River Clyde and up Castle Hill.

Friday was a better day and we headed off early to Edinburgh by bus. We walked up Arthur's Seat and along the top of Salisbury Crags before heading into town for lunch at the 'World's End Pub' and a wander around the shops.

Saturday morning was very wet but things improved in the afternoon and we managed to get up Tinto although we did get wet on the final section of the descent.

Sunday was our final day in Scotland and also our Wedding Anniversary. The weather was better so we chose to climb Culter Fell on of our favourite wee hills. It was windy but stayed dry and we got some good views. Sadly these are being slowly spoilt by the growth of Wind Factories in the area.

Starting to climb Fell Shin by the first 'Butt'.
