More stable weather.
High pressure has dominated the weather again this week and whilst we have no had clear blue skies it has been largely dry and calm. As a result we've managed to be quite active.
Susan had a day off work on Wednesday. It was rather overcast but we made the most of it and climbed Blencathra. Our route took us from Threlkeld up Doddick Fell to the summit and then down over Blease Fell. Low cloud limited the views but as always it was good to get out together. We rounded the trip off with an excellent late lunch in Abraham's Cafe.

On Thursday Jeff, Pete and I took advantage of the dry weather and had a trip to the South Crag of Castle Rock. We climbed our 5 favourite routes on the crag - Gangway, Slab Climb, Wall Climb, Kliene Rinne and Via Media.

Pete on Wall Climb (S).
Pete on Kleine Rinne (VS 4b).

As the forecast for Saturday was good we got up early and headed for Ambleside to walk the 11 mile Fairfield Horseshoe. We did the route anticlockwise climbing Low Pike, High Pike, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Great Rigg and Heron Pike. It was a very benign day but a little overcast for photos. We thoroughly enjoyed the round, especially the quiet of the early morning, and then our we wander around Ambleside.
Today was again dry and calm. We headed out from home on the bikes and did a 40 mile loop - making it up as we went along. Cumbria is looking more and more autumnal so let's hope it stays calm to allow the trees to turn without the leaves being instantly blown off.
