High Street walk and Buttermere cycle.

We had my Mum over from Leeds during the week. I got in a couple of short cycles and we walked down to the harbour on 3 nights when Susan got home from work.

Mum enjoying a wander around Harrington Harbour.

On Saturday we headed out early for the High Street range. The forecast was good and the plan was to tick off 8 of our 'Lakes 100' tops. We set off from Hartsop in sunshine but by the time we'd reached the first summit (Stony Cove Pike) cloud had rolled in and it then started to rain. Care was needed on the descent to Threshthwaite Mouth as the now wet rocks were slippery but we were soon down and climbing up to Thornthwaite Crag. All we could see at the top was it's large 'Beacon'.
We made rapid progress to High Street and then Kidsty Pike where the cloud began to clear. Despite this it was cold and we were dressed for autumn rather than summer as we left for High Raise after lunch. The views improved as the sky cleared and Susan led us quickly over the last 3 tops - Rampsgill Head, The Knott and Rest Dodd. We were back at the car just after 2pm have thoroughly enjoyed the round despite the unseasonal weather.

Climbing steeply up Hartsop Dodd.

Today we went for a cycle to Buttermere. It was bright as we left but cloud built as we headed east and by the time we were riding along the side of Crummock Water it was raining!!! Fortunately it soon stopped but we still went straight to the Cafe for Tea and scones.
The weather improved as we headed back west and by the time we reached the coast the sun was shining. Our longest ride for a while had been very good.

Heading west along Crummock Water.

Climbing up to Lanthwaite Green.

Nearly home.
