Buttermere cycle.
Today dawned overcast and grey but we wanted a cycle so just headed off from home with no particular route in mind. As we headed east towards Gilgarran it didn't look too promising but we kept going to Asby then Arlecdon, Kirkland and Fangs Brow. At this point the skies began to clear and by the time we'd descended to Loweswater it was clear that the weather was just going to get better and better. We had to go to Buttermere for a cafe stop!!!
We got there at about 12.30 and had tea and cream scones sitting outside in warm sunshine. Great.
The route home took us to Lorton, Eaglesfield, Dean and Branthwaite and in total we covered 42 miles. More than expected when we set out.
Approaching Kirkland with signs of improving weather.
On the road to Blake Fell.
Descending Fangs Brow.
Dropping down to Loweswater.
Cycling along the Loweswater road.
Tea and scones for two!!!!!
A different day - heading home alongside Crummock Water.
Cycling below Grasmoor.
Nearly home.
