Buttermere Cycle.

Another warm day in Cumbria and we had a great ride to Buttermere. It was overcast as we headed out but by the time we reached Fangs Brow the cloud was breaking up and the sun was beginning to shine. The roads seemed quieter than normal, maybe due to England's late night World Cup game against Italy, and we made good time to one of our favourite cafes in the Lakes. As it was warm we decided on a Sugar Cone Ice Cream rather than the usual hot drink and scone/cake.
We headed back down the valley for home, stopping for a lunchtime bagel on the shores of Crummock Water, but this time went via Lorton, Eaglesfield, Dean, Branthwaite and Gillgaran. An excellent 40 mile loop.

An improving day as we approach Fangs Brow.

Reaching the top of the short but steep Scale Hill.
