Autumn days.
On Thursday I made the most of Industrial Action at work and headed for Blencathra. It was overcast but dry and mild as I set out from Threlkeld to climb the hill via Doddick Fell. The day, however, improved and it was much brighter as I finished the round having wandered down from Blease Fell.

Saturday was forecast to be dreich and it was as we drove up Borrowdale to park at the Bowderstone Car Park. Rain fell as we headed up Kings Howe but the autumn colours were still worth seeing. Distant views were non-existent from the summit and remained so as we carried on over wet ground to Brund Fell. As we started to descend to Rosthwaite, however, the rain stopped and it got brighter. This encouraged us to extend the walk to take in Castle Crag at the heart of the Borrowdale Valley. The steep climb was worth the effort as at last we got some good views. This was the busiest section of the route but in general the fells were again quiet. The same could not be said of Keswick which seems to be busy every weekend.

Today has been a mix of sunshine and heavy showers. We decided to stay local - walking to the coast in the morning and doing our cycle track route on the mountain bikes in the afternoon.
