Wee cycle.
As the forecast suggested low cloud again we decided to wheel the road bikes out and head for Keswick and a cafe lunch. We've been using the mountain bikes to get some miles in on the cycle track after work but this was our first proper ride for two weeks.
Our route to Keswick took in Dean, Eaglesfield, Wythop Mill and Braithwaite and was just over 25 miles. The weather was better than forecast and it was very mild. Our average speed was boosted by a tail wind and we were in Fishers Cafe just before 12.00 for an excellent lunch.
The homeward leg was about the same length but took us through Bassenthwaite, Embleton, Cockermouth and Bridgefoot. A really enjoyable wee ride and we were home to watch Bradley Wiggins win the Tour of Britain. On Monday we got soaked watching the Tour fly through Whitehaven during Stage 2. It was great to see the Pros riding some of our local roads later on TV. Many of them struggled up Honister Pass.
Having a break in Bassenthwaite.
Heading home just outside Cockermouth.
