Night hike and cycle.
I popped over to see my Mum during hospital visiting hours on Saturday and Susan went up to see her Mum in Dumfries. On the way home I couldn't resist stopping and nipping up Blencathra to try out my new 1800 Lumens head-torch. There was still some day light when I parked and headed up Scales Fell but it was dark when I reached the summit. To descend quickly and safely I needed light and the new torch was excellent. I was up and down in under two hours.
The view to Skiddaw from the summit.
The lights of Keswick and the western sky.
Susan was heading home on Sunday morning so I was up and out early on the bike. It was a chilly but bright start with a brisk easterly wind. The day soon warmed up, however, and I had an excellent wee round of 35 miles out to Loweswater. After lunch we had a walk to the harbour in warm September sunshine.

A beautiful morning near Lorton.
