Low cloud.
We set out today hoping that the weather would be better than forecast but it wasn't and we spent most of our walk in the cloud. Our route started on the Keswick to Ambleside road just beyond Thirlspot and took us firstly up onto Helvellyn. We only passed two people descending as we approached the summit and even the normally busy shelter was quiet. The highlight of the ascent was the sighting of a red deer as views were very limited.
After a slice of Susan's 'Borrowdale Loaf' we headed north over Whiteside to Raise where we had lunch before climbing our final hill of the day Stybarrow Dodd. There were still very few people about and we saw no one as we descended from Sticks Pass back to Thirlspot.
Climbing up from Thirlspot - we spotted a red deer near here.
Helvellyn summit.
Out of the clouds on the descent.
Crossing Fisher Gill.
