No end to winter.

The forecast for the fell tops today was for 'storm force winds and snow' so we chose a lie in. Radio Cumbria travel reports at breakfast informed us that only one road remained open out of west Cumbria so we'd chosen wisely. I did, however, need to get to Keswick to pick up my bike after it's service.
Susan wanted  to buy some baking ingredients and 'gadgets' so we headed for Cockermouth first. The roads were fine but it was very windy. We wanted some exercise so, on arriving in Keswick, headed out for Latrigg. As the wind was blowing from the east we walked the cycle track towards Threlkeld first and then climbed the east ridge of the fell - with plenty of wind assist. The snow was blowing around so there was little on the ground and we couldn't see much. As always it was great to be out!!!
The lee side of the hill held much more snow and was more pleasant to walk down. As we walked through the woods in felt like we were back in Chamonix - minus the snowshoes.
Keswick was quiet with few market stalls open, so we easily got a seat in Fishers Cafe for a brew and a scone.

The cycle track to Latrigg summit.

Descending into Keswick.
