Gavel Fell.
The thermometer read 2 degrees when I got up to make tea and the sky looked threatening. We decided on a local walk. Surprisingly Susan hadn't climbed Gavel Fell before, as we've done nearby Blake Fell many times, so this was our choice.
The ground was frozen at the parking area and snow began to fall as we started the familiar climb up Blake. At the col between the two hills we turned and headed for Gavel Fell first. The normally boggy ground was nicely frozen so we were up in no time. Sadly the views were limited as the snow was now sweeping across the hills. We quickly retraced our route and then headed off up Blake. The summit shelter gave refuge from the wind and we had a hot drink and delicious homemade tea loaf before heading down to the car.
