Ambleside and Helm Crag.
Today was forecast to be windy with sunshine and showers so we decided to give the high fells a miss and headed to Ambleside to do some Christmas browsing. We wanted some fresh air so stopped off in Grasmere on the way back to Keswick to climb Helm Crag or the 'Lion and the Lamb'. Despite heavy showers and a gusty wind on the summit ridge it was an enjoyable wee round. Some snow could be seen lingering on the higher tops but it was much milder than of late.
We stopped off in Keswick on the way home so that I could treat Susan to her birthday meal out.
On the summit ridge with Grasmere in the background.
Approaching the 'Lion'.
