A good weekend at home.
Saturday's forecast was for heavy showers - possibly wintry over the fells. We headed for the Coledale Fells and parked on the Newlands Hause road near Uzzicar Farm. The first hill of the day was Causey Pike and by the time we reached the final summit scramble the early brightness had disappeared to be replaced by a dark sky, sleet and a brisk wind. Breaks in the cloud could, however, be seen and there were some good views including the odd rainbow. We made very good time over Scar Crags and Sail and were soon on the summit of Crag Hill. Amazingly we'd seen no one to this point.
On Crag Hill patches of snow remained from last weekend and served as a reminder that winter conditions could be with us any time now. As we headed for Grisedale Pike we started to meet others including several quite large groups. The showers came and went but there were always good views.
The descent from Grisedale Pike is a long one so about half way down we stopped for some food and a drink. The sun was out over Keswick and rainbows formed frequently.
We were back at the car by 2.30pm so headed into Keswick to do some window shopping in preparation for Christmas. The towns lights were switched on on Friday.
A bright start - heading up Causey Pike.

Autumn colours are hanging in.
A Rainbow accompanied us down to Braithwaite.
Today dawned bright and cool so we decided on a wee cycle from home. The back roads were quiet and we really enjoyed our first spin in two weeks.
Cycling on Dean Moor.
Quiet wee back road near Brandlingill - most of the trees are now bare.
