Contrasting days.
Saturday was a beautiful autumn day to be in the Lakes. We traveled 15 Miles from home to Buttermere on a bright frosty morning and there was only one car in the NT Car Park when we arrived. We climbed quickly up to Bleaberry Tarn to warm up and then slowed down to climb up onto Dodd and then Red Pike. The views west were superb but unfortunately cloud obscured the sun for the next leg over High Stile and High Crag. It was, consequently, very cold especially in places exposed to the north wind. Despite an early start the ridge was busy probably due to the start of the School Half Term Holiday.
As we dropped down Gamlin End the sun reappeared and brought some welcome heat. We decided to find a sunny spot on Seat where we could eat lunch with a great view across to Pillar and down Ennerdale.
The next leg up and over Haystacks was predictably busy but the views back along the ridge were stunning and as we dropped down Warnscale Bottom we lost the crowds. As always the walk back along the lake shore was a great way to end our day out.

Sunday was a completely different day. After a welcome lie in we headed out to do Sale Fell on route to Keswick. It was wet and windy as we left the car but despite the weather it was great to get some fresh air. We also felt less guilty heading straight to Fishers Cafe for lunch on arriving in Keswick.
Wet and windy but still great to be out.
No views today.
