Dogs, Bulls and now a broken cycle pump.

Our last two Sunday rides have been cut short or detoured, due to a dog attack and a massive bull blocking the road, so we set off for Keswick this morning thinking nothing could go wrong. All was fine until about 11 miles into the ride when Susan realized that she had a flat back tyre. No problem I thought - change the tube, pump it up and carry on. The first part went fine but when it came to blowing the tyre up my pump just wouldn't work. Fortunately we were able to flag down a passing cyclist to try his pump. He wasn't sure how the valve head worked but eventually we got it to work and we were able to carry on. It was another bright day and unusually there was an easterly wind which promised to make the ride home easier.
Once in Keswick we headed to the bike shop to get another tube for the journey home and to put a bit more air into Susan's tyre. It was then on to Lakeland Pedlar for tea and superb scones. The ride home went without incident. Hopefully we'll be back out next Sunday.

Ready to head home after a tea and scone.
