What has happened to summer?

Mid-summer day has passed and still there is no sign of summer in Cumbria. Since we arrived back from Scotland there have been a few dry and bright days through the week but the weekends have been wet and windy and it's been unseasonably cold. We've done some after work cycle rides but haven't managed any big summer days out during the weekends.

Last Sunday's cycle ride - in Lorton. Saturday was a 'wash out'!

Cycling in the sun after work this week.

On the road to Eaglesfield.

On Latrigg above Keswick yesterday.

The River Greta was in full flow after heavy overnight rain.
Keswick's new flood defences appeared to be working.

This afternoon we climbed our nearest hill - Blake Fell. Summit views were limited.

On Sharp Knott with Knock Murton in the background.

By the time we'd descended to Cogra Moss the fell had cleared.

Afternoon sunshine above Cogra Moss.
