Cold Bank Holiday Weekend.
Our first weekend in Cumbria for three weeks started with a wander up Sale Fell on Friday night. The rain of Thursday and Friday had cleared by the time we set off and there were some good views of the northern fells under clearing skies.
On Saturday we drove to Keswick and set off on a cycle. We headed north on the A591 and then followed the Reivers Cycle route around the back of Skiddaw before turning and taking the C2C back to Keswick. It was slightly warmer than of late and we had some good clear spells. The views at times were fantastic. One of the highlights was the Cycle Cafe in Greystoke where we had a scones, jam, cream and tea/coffee - fantastic!!! http://www.greystokecyclecafe.co.uk/
Today we cycled from home completing a 30 mile loop to Lorton. The Dean Scarecrow Festival was in full swing with some amazing Scarecrows lining the road through the surrounding villages. The wind was very strong making the homeward leg hard work. The 1,700 cyclists taking part in the 'Fred Whitton' http://www.fredwhittonchallenge.org.uk/index.php will have had a hard day in the saddle.
Looking across Bassenthwaite to a cloud capped Skiddaw.
What's happened to summer temperatures?
