Buttermere Cycle.

We headed out for Buttermere on the bikes this morning under a clear blue sky. It was, however, cold again with a biting north wind. The back roads were nice and quiet and we made good progress to Lorton where things got a little busier. Several groups of cyclists 'whizzed' past us, as our route followed that of the Lakeland Loop Sportive Ride until we turned right for Buttermere. The cloud had already increased by this point and it was very cold riding along the shores of Crummock Water. The Cafe in the centre of the village is now under new management and has had major make over. The tea/coffee and scones were very good so we'll be back.
Much of the ride home was more difficult than normal due to the northerly head wind and it was slowed to a halt at Eaglesfield Paddle School when Susan had a puncture. A new tube fixed this and the sky started to clear as we neared the coast and home.

On the road to Lorton - heading home.

On the road to Eaglesfield - just before the puncture.
