Return to the fells.
It's two weeks since we were last out on the fells and yesterday we only managed a quick wander over Latrigg due to a new bed delivery in the morning. It was overcast and quite cool but the view down Borrowdale was worth the effort.

Today we headed to Buttermere under cloudy skies wanting to do a longer walk whatever the weather. As we set off from the village for Red Pike a few breaks in the cloud gave us hope that we might get some views. The climb up to Bleaberry Tarn is alwys quite hard work but as we arrived in the corrie the clouds parted for a wee while making it more pleasurable. We head out first to Dodd, as it was bathed in sunlight, and then up onto Red Pike. We timed our arrival perfectly with another break in the clouds giving superb views along our planned route over High Stile and High Crag.
The cloud came and went all the way along the ridge rewarding us with panoramas of peaks above cloud filled valleys and several Brocken Spectres. On reaching Scarth Gap we chose to descend to the valley for the walk back along the lakeshore to Buttermere and an Ice Cream in the newly refurbished Cafe. A great return to the fells.
