Skiddaw.
Yesterday was wet and windy so we didn't venture far. Today was dry and calm but the fells were shrouded in cloud so we decided on a straight forward ascent of Skiddaw from Keswick. As we climbed out of the town the path soon became icy and we put the microspikes on to allow us to make quicker progress. They stayed on for most of the day.
At about 400m we climbed into the cloud and entered a world of white. Very little could be seen and when we turned off the main path to climb Little Man some navigation was needed as there were no tracks to follow. Above 800m the wind picked up and we both had to add a layer before pushing on to Skiddaw summit. As we sat eating by the summit shelter the cloud showed signs of lifting but never did - although brief clearings on the descent gave some fleeting views.
The ice of the morning had melted by the time we got down below 400m so the microspikes came off for the last drop into town. Fishers Cafe was a must before heading home.

Trying to find some shelter to eat just below Skiddaw summit.
The view down Borrowdale as we drop down to Keswick.
Another good day on the hill and very quiet.
