Windy on the tops.

The wet and windy weather has continued all week in Cumbria. The forecast, however, promised a better day today so we headed out in hope. The fells were cloud covered as we drove east but there was a bit of blues sky above Blencathra so we decided on that area for a wee wander. We parked below Mousthwaite Combe and climbed to it's top before dropping down to Glenderamakin Beck. We then followed the beck downstream until we were able to climb onto the east ridge of Bannerdale Crags. To this point the weather was OK if a little windy but as we approached the top of the ridge the wind picked up and it started to rain and then hail. It was pretty wild as we headed for Blencathra so we decided to call it a day and drop down to the car - Fishers Cafe being more appealing than another summit in the clag.

The route.
