Another stormy week.
Wind and rain have 'battered' west Cumbria all week and the weekend was no different. Wanting some fresh air and exercise but not wanting to be blown off our feet we stayed on the lower fells today and yesterday.
Saturday saw us heading down Borrowdale under dark skies for a wander over King's Howe and Brund Fell from the Bowderstone Car Park. We set off in rain but this soon cleared and we had a very pleasant round sheltered from the wind except on the two tops. The valley was very quiet which is always a treat.

Today we headed east to Buttermere with no set plan. Heavy showers swept down the valley so we decided on lowly Rannerdale Knotts. The showers continued all the way round and turned to snow on the ridge. There were some good views of the higher fells with light snow on them. As it was just past mid-day on arriving back at the car we went for a wander around Buttermere. The normally busy lakeside paths were very quiet.
