Newlands Horseshoe.
We headed out quite early to make sure of a parking space at the foot of Cat Bells. Our aim was to complete the Newlands Horshoe travelling anticlockwise over Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy, Maiden Moor and Cat Bells. It was a very mild as we headed off and breaks in the cloud suggested it was to be a good day out. The climb up Hindscarth felt quite hard as I was 'brewing' a cold but things then eased until the ascent of High Spy. The tremendous views on another excellent autumnal day made the effort worthwhile.
On dropping down from Maiden Moor I gave in to my worsening cold and we dropped back to the car without bagging Cat Bells.
