More like summer.

The weather has been much better this week and at long last it's started to feel like summer in Cumbria. We've had some good after work cycles and this weekend have had two great walks on the fells. Lets hope that the weather stays like this for a while.
Saturday - We headed to Keswick to catch the 9.20am Caldbeck Rambler Bus to Mungrisedale. Our intention was to walk back to Keswick over the fells. We started by climbing Bannerdale Crags via it's lovely east ridge. From here we headed to Blencathra via Sharp Edge which was in excellent condition. We then decided to drop down to Roughten Gill heading for Glenderaterra Beck which we followed north to the foot of Burnt Horse ridge. This ridge led us up onto Lonscale Fell our last top of the day where we decided to have a wee snooze in the sun before dropping down into Keswick for our tea in The George.

Sunday - We had a later start and when we arrived in Buttermere the NT Car Park was filling up quickly. Today's route was an old favourite up Red Pike via Dodd and then along the High Stile / High Crag ridge to Scarth Gap. It was an even better day than Saturday with some great views and very few people on the hill. This was even true on our final top Haystacks which is normally very busy at the weekend. We descended to Warnscale Bottom then walked back to Buttermere along the NE shore of the lake. An ice cream at the old cafe was a great way to end another cracking day on the hill.
