Active weekend.
With Susan back home from looking after her Mum in Dumfries we wanted to make the most of the weekend. We started on Friday night by heading to Loweswater from where we climbed up and over Mellbreak. The views in the evening light were great and we had the fell to ourselves - a distinct advantage of living in West Cumbria.

Saturday saw us heading to Keswick to park the car. It was then onto the Honister Rambler Bus to Lanthwaite Green so that we could walk over the fells back to Keswick. Linear walks like this make a change from the normal circuits we do from car to car. The bus was packed with at least 8 people having to stand.
From Lanthwaite Green we headed steeply up onto Whiteside. The views back to Mellbreak were great in the very clear and for June cool air. We moved quickly along the ridge to Hopegill Head where we began to meet other walkers. There was a keen NW breeze and again summer seemed a long way off.
Next we headed for Grasmoor then Eel Crag (Crag Hill) and finally Grisedale Pike. Dark clouds began to move in from the north as we went from top to top and on Grisedale Pike it began to rain. Fortunately this didn't last long and we walked back to Keswick under quite bright skies. Heavy rain did begin to fall as we drove home.

Brighter skies for the walk back to Keswick.
Today we had a wee lie in and then headed out on our bikes from home. We just followed a back road circuit to Lorton and back hoping to get home before the forecast rain began to fall. The roads were quiet and the views good. We made it home dry. A great weekend.
