Blencathra and Skiddaw.

After a good week of Spring weather today was a little disappointing as it was overcast and cool but we had a great day on the fells. We left home early and after buying papers in Keswick were soon heading for Blencathra along the C2C cycle track. As we climbed up Blease Fell from the Blencathra Centre the wind picked up and the temperature dropped so we had to put on gloves and hats. There weren't many people out on this leg but the summit was quite busy so we didn't linger and dropped off the back to Mungrisdale Common and the Cloven Stone. From here it was on to Skiddaw House where we had a wee break before the climb up onto Skiddaw. The sun came out briefly on this section but the final ridge to the summit was windy and cold. After a  sandwich and drink sitting out of the wind looking west over Bassenthwaite Lake we headed down to Keswick completing the round in 6 1/2 hours. A meal in the Bank Tavern rounded the day off very nicely.
