Making the most of it.

We arrived back in Cumbria yesterday evening and decided to make the most of our last day off work by having a wee wander. On the road east we decided on the Newlands fells. We parked below Cat Bells and headed first for Hindscarth via Scope End - a great little ridge walk. Most of the snow has disappeared but icy patches remain.
From Hindscarth we headed for Dale Head. The views were terrific and we met very few other people despite it being a Bank Holiday. The steep descent towards High Spy required care in places but we were soon having lunch next to a frozen tarn at the head of the Newlands valley.
The last leg of the day took us over High Spy and Maiden Moor before we dropped back into the valley and the car.
