Hogmanay and New Years Day.
Despite low cloud and light rain in Symington we headed out to climb Broad Law on Hogmanay. The forecast suggested that it might clear up but when we arrived at the head of Talla Reservoir this looked unlikely. We headed first for the Megget Stone and then set off into the cloud for the summit. It was windy and damp all the way and we had to be careful on icy patches. The visibility was very limited and when we reached the top we just turned and headed back to the car.
One of the few views of the day - Talla Reservoir.
In the evening we went to the traditional Hogmanay Bonfire in Biggar to see in the New Year.

After a lie in on New Years Day we headed for Culter Fell - a favourite local hill. The late start meant that the parking area was very busy as a local Walking Club were heading up the fell. We chose to change our route to avoid the crowds and headed off for Gathersnow. It was a better day with some good views despite the cloud cover. Sadly some of the views are being spoilt by the spread of Wind Factories.
From Gathersnow we headed for Culter Fell. It was late afternoon when we got there and there was no one about. It was much colder and we headed quickly down to the car.

Heading towards Culter Fell.
Late afternoon on Culter Fell summit.
Cool on the top of Culter Fell.
Heading down with Tinto visible across the Clyde Valley.
