What a difference a week makes!!!!
Susan's birthday today and she was up for a day on the hill after two weeks of inactivity. The temperatures rose in Cumbria on Thursday, stripping the snow away at home, but we were still amazed by how much had vanished from the fells as we headed east.
Susan wanted an easy day so it was back to Blencathra for a wander up Scales Fell Ridge then out to Bowscale Fell and back over Bannerdale Crags to the car. It was bright for most of the day but cool and windy on the tops so Susan soon had her new birthday jacket on. It was amazing to see how much snow had melted since last Sunday when I did virtually the same route.
We finished the day out with a wander around Keswick and a meal in the George.
