Another cold day.

The roads were white with frost as we headed out after 9 this morning. This made for a slow journey to Buttermere where we parked at the foot of Rannerdale alongside Crummock Water. We headed first up Whiteless Pike, the 'Rannerdale Matterhorn', and then went on to Wandope. There was some sunshine but it was cold in a strong breeze which had us adding another layer before moving onto Crag Hill. The central and eastern fells had more cloud cover but the views were still superb. Large patches of snow still cover the higher peaks and with low temperatures forecast for the week ahead they are likely to remain wintery for a while.
Our final top was Grasmoor which was completely empty and we saw no one as we descended Lads How ridge back to the car. The views on the descent were excellent. Another great day out!!!
