Return to the fells.
We've not been on the fells for two weeks and yesterday was not a day to get back out. It rained heavily all day no doubt pleasing gardeners as a hosepipe ban has been threatened lately. This morning dawned very windy so we decided on a low fell wander. We headed for Whinlatter to climb three fells north of the pass. The first of these - Graystones - was a steep climb from the road but from then on the route followed a very pleasant ridge east over Broom Fell to Lords Seat. It was windy all the way and most of the higher fells were in the cloud but it was good to be out again. From Lords Seat we followed forest tracks back to the car and, as often happens on descent, the weather began to improve.
By the time we got home it was a different day so after lunch we headed out for a bike ride - completing one of our after work loops in record time.
