Pebbles run.

We travelled up to Symington last night hoping for a few days cycling in the Borders. A wet start to the day wasn’t very promising but by 10.30am we decided to go out and give it a go. We headed first for Broughton following the Tweed Cycle Route and made good time thanks to a strong tail wind. There were a few showers but we decided to carry on for Pebbles over the Dreva pass.

A strange looking Scotsman on the roadside.

As usual Pebbles High Street was busy so we bought rolls and headed for the park alongside the River Tweed to eat them. The wind had helped us get here but we knew that it would make the return leg a real battle. To make life a little easier on the way home we by-passed the climb over Dreva but our speed was noticeably slower and at one point we stopped to shelter from a heavy shower under a stand of trees. By the time we reached Symington it felt that we had done more than the 42 miles registering on my trip computer. It had been worth the effort.

Which way shall we go?
