Border Raiders.
Friday night saw us heading north for Symington and a Border raid. A clear sky with full moon suggested that we were in for a cold night but promised much for Saturday.
Saturday.
We rose late but the sun shone brightly and we were soon heading for Culter Glen and a south/north traverse of our favourite local hill Culter Fell. The route started with a walk up Culter Glen to Coulter Water and then Holm Nick. From here we turned north and climbed the fell via Moss Law. About half way up we passed a large party of eight, very unusual for these hills, and as we reached the summit we met two other walkers. The views throughout were fantastic and this didn't change as we continued north and then west back to the car. A few patches of hard snow had to be crossed on the descent.

Sunday.
We again intended to stay local but changed our original plan to climb Tinto in favour of the much quieter Culter Fell and Cardon Hill. The weather was not quite as good as we headed back up Culter Glen but as we climbed directly up the fell via Fell Shin conditions rapidly improved and once again we were rewarded with clear air and magnificent views. Hoar frost covered the ground and the fences - clear evidence of a cold night. From the summit of Culter we headed north and then north east to Cardon Hill. The views east to the Broad Law range and the Tweed Valley were stunning. To get back to the car we retraced our steps before repeating Saturdays descent.
Two different walks up a great wee hill in excellent conditions we couldn't have asked for more on our Border Raid.
