Hail today.
It's been another weekend dominated by wet and today windy weather. It's hard to remember the last time we got out for a big day in bright, dry and calm conditions.
Today we headed up Blencathra from Scales on the A66. The weather was very mixed as we climbed up Scales Fell with rain, wind and hail but when we reached the summit of Blencathra we'd had enough clear spells to encourage us on to Bowscale Fell and then Bannerdale Crags. The Fells were very quiet and we only passed two other groups - very unusual on these popular hills. A good day out.

The remains of last weeks snow on the rim of the plateau.
