Another great day on the fells.
Today was again forecast to be good so once more we headed for the fells. This time we stayed in the west and went for the Coledale Horseshoe. Grisedale Pike was the first hill and as always this was a tough slog. The views from the top were, however, fantastic despite a veil of cloud. The next ticks were Hopegill Head and Sand Hill - not really on the Coledale Horseshoe but well worth doing especially on a day like this with excellent visibility. It was then on to Crag Hill and the final leg over Sail, Scar Crags and Causey Pike. As we descended the light on Skiddaw and Blencathra was fantastic and today we reached the car in daylight.
After all the wind and rain of the last month this weekend was just what we needed and it was made better by the absence of crowds. Most people seem to be doing the Christmas shopping leaving the fells to those that love them most.
