Today dawned bright and calm so despite Susan's still sore leg we set off on the bikes heading for Keswick. We took the normal back roads to skirt around the northern edge of the fells and got to Keswick in just over two hours. The autumn colours are still hanging in and when we got to Bassenthwaite the reflections in the flat calm lake were fantastic. Keswick was busy and sitting in Hope Park for lunch we could see quite a crowd on the top of Cat Bells. The ride home took us along the eastern side of Bass Lake before we headed back west to Cockermouth and onto home. The sky had gradually clouded over during the day but the final views across the Solway to Dumfries and Galloway were excellent.

Heading for home.
Today was very mild (15 degrees C) for October. Last year at this time we were mountain biking in the Cairngorms in the snow.
