Symington Weekend
Susan drove us up to Symington on Friday after work. A problem with her bike saddle meant that Saturday's planned ride had to be changed to a walk. We decided on our favourite local hill Culter Fell and on a late start. The autumn colours are beginning to show through and some bright spells gave us great views of the surrounding hills and glens. Part of the pleasure of wandering on these border hills is the solitude and we saw no one else on the fell - quite a contrast to the lakeland fells.

Susan was 'otherwise engaged' at the shops on Sunday morning so I went for a wee bike ride. It was an overcast day but some hills were cloud free and I was blown along by a tail wind to Broughton. The return route via Biggar was of course much harder into the wind - especially as it appeared to grow stronger the closer I got to home - but it was an enjoyable outing. I look forward to some longer rides in these hills as autumn takes hold.
