Local Cycle.
Today's weather forecast suggested a dry morning followed by yet more rain so a cycle 'from the door' seemed the best bet. We set off early taking the Sustrans Cycle track into Workington and then on to Cockermouth. From here we continued east to Embleton and then crossed the A66 to reach Wythop Mill. We'd had a tail wind to this point but as we turned and headed west the going got a little tougher. Our route home took in Brandlingill, where chickens on the road had me skidding to a halt, Pardshaw, Dean, Eaglesfield, Greysouthen and Bridgefoot. The sky was grey throughout the ride but the fells were cloud free and it was good to get out and beat the weather.
A feature of the local back roads are the signposts. Some of these are beautiful maintained others are sadly rusting away. The pictures show two good examples:
The weather forecast proved correct as it started to rain almost as soon as we got home and it hasn't stopped since!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
