A better day
Susan had a day off today and needed to get out. We headed for the Helvellyn range and at first things didn't look too good. Just above Browncove Crags heavy rain set in and the wind picked up. By the time we reached the Trig Point I thought it was going to be another wet day and things then got worse as hail began to fall. We had a brief stop in the summit shelter - putting on hat and gloves - and then headed off for Whiteside and Raise.

Although the wind picked up the rain began to ease and some blue sky started to appear - perhaps things would improve. Encouraged by this we continued beyond Sticks Pass to Stybarrow Dodd where the weather was even better. We couldn't resist continuing a wee bit further so 'bagged' Great Dodd and Watson Dodd before heading back to Sticks Pass. The descent from here down Stanah Gill gave superb views of Bassenthwaite and Skiddaw and we had sunshine all the way back to the car.

A MUCH better day!!!!!

Alec and his mates completed the 'Three Peaks' (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in 23 hours despite poor weather on the Ben and Scafell Pike.
