Scafell Pike
The late weather forecast on Sunday promised a dry day for Cumbria on Monday. Unfortunately Susan had to work so I headed off solo for a day in the mountains. As I parked up at Seathwaite, the wettest place in the country, the forecast didn't look very accurate as the sky was dark and threatening. Heavy showers started almost as soon as I set off and continued all the way up Grains Gill. It was clear that there would be few summit views. The first top of the day was Great End followed by Scafell Pike. The summit was as usual busy so I didn't linger long and headed off for the much quieter top of Lingmell for lunch. The low cloud threatened to clear but didn't until I was well down the Corridor Route when Skiddaw and Blencathra came into view. The sun typically came out for the final descent into Borrowdale.
On the top of Lingmell.
Clearing skies on the descent.
Susan was keen to get out after work so we had a cycle from home on a breezey but bright evening.
