Hot week

It's been a hot week in Cumbria with temperatures in the high twenties and high humidity. Today started wet but soon cleared and we had a very good walk on the northern fells.

Leaving the car at the Blencathra Centre above Threlkeld we first climbed Blencathra via Blease Fell and then dropped off Atkinson Pike to Mungrisedale Common. There were some early risers on the summit ridge but on the next leg past the Cloven Stone and onto Skiddaw House we saw know one. As we climbed up towards Skiddaw several paragliders came into view hovering above Little Man and several parties could be seen on the final ridge up to the summit. We soon joined them on the top and then turned and headed back to the car via Jenkin Hill and Lonscale Fell. The weather was excellent throughout the 13.5 mile round and we both had a wee bit of sunburn when we got home.
