'That's a U-shaped valley Dad'.
A bright day was promised so I took John and Jack to Wasdale for a wander up Lingmell. We parked at the National Trust Car Park at the foot of Lingmell Gill and then took the Hollow Stones track up alongside the beck. The path was busy with people heading for Scafell Pike but we plodded slowly up and soon reached Lingmell Col. Here we broke away from the crowds and set off up to the summit cairn of our hill for the day. We were rewarded with some fine views of the lakeland fells but a cold wind soon forced us off the top and we headed down Lingmell nose towards the car. Back in the valley we payed a quick visit to the Wasdale Head Inn for a beer before the drive home.
