Milehouse Weekend.

Friday - Drove north after work to the Ladies' Scottish Climbing Club hut at Milehouse, Kincraig. The MWIS weather forecast wasn't great but we were attending the An Teallach Mountaineering Club AGM so we were looking forward to a good weekend.

Saturday - The day dawned overcast and breezy but we decided to give Sgor Gaoith the nearest Munro a go. We were joined by four other members of the club - Ian, Ann, Frank and Liz.
The route started at Achlean in Glen Feshie on an excellent track towards Carn Ban Mor. As we gained height the wind picked up and it started to rain. We met a solo walker who had turned back due to 'stronger winds higher up' but we decided to press on and were soon on the top of Carn Ban Mor. From here careful map and compass work took us to the summit of Sgor Gaoith over some terrible slush covered ground. We had hoped to carry on over a couple of other tops but it was not pleasant in the wind and rain and there were no views (as on my previous ascent of the hill) so we decide to drop straight back down to the glen.

Conditions improved as we lost height and by the time we reached the car blue skies had appeared. Typical!!!!!

Evening sun at Milehouse hut - the only picture of the day.

A good evening followed at the AGM with an excellent currie meal prepared by various ATMC members. Susan and I stood down as Meet Secretaries after 3 years and were presented with a fantastic picture of An Teallach as a late wedding present.

Sunday - The weather looked similar to Saturday so we abandoned our plan to climb a Corbett and headed down the road for Cumbria. The further south we got the better the weather and by the time we reached the borders it was sunny and spring like.
Not wanting to waste this weather we decided on a quick bike ride as soon as we got home and headed off on our 'after work' round. This took a little longer than normal due to a puncture but it was good to get out in some sunshine.
