The Witch's Trails - Cour Loop.
'Heather's Weather' on thursday night promised a dry morning with rain arriving at lunch time so we decided to head for the Witch's Trails in Leanachan Forest. The guide picked up at Off Beat Bikes in Fort William recommended the Blue Graded Cour Loop so after gearing up at Aonach Mor Ski Centre Car Park we set off on the 22km round.
The first section was mainly uphill on forest tracks but we were soon on some very good singletrack. In places this was quite tricky for Susan, especially as her brakes were not brilliant due to wearing pads, but her confidence grew and she really enjoyed what was her most difficult mountain biking so far. All too quickly we were back onto forest tracks and the final descent to the car park.
Enjoying the excellent singletrack sections of the Cour Loop.
By the time we'd put the bikes back onto the car and changed the promised rain had arrived so it was Cafe time. Another great outing and unfortunately the last of our week in Lochaber. It's been a very mild week and a lot of the snow we'd hoped for has melted but the highlands have again been wonderful and we'll be back soon.
