Great Glen to Fort Augustus.

Having enjoyed cycling along the Caledonian Canal on Sunday we decided to ride the Great Glen Cycle Way from Clunes to Fort Augustus and back. The day was again overcast and very mild for February.
The first part of the day took us along the shores of Loch Lochy on forest track with some steepish climbs. We then hit some excellent 'singletrack' which led to North Laggan and Loch Oich. The next section included one tricky stretch of track with many slippery roots to cross but we arrived safely at Cullochy Locks and a final quick towpath ride to Fort Augustus. The Locks here were very impressive and tea and cake helped revitalise us for the return journey.
We headed back into a head wind but made good time until Susan hit a rock and took a wee tumble. She quickly picked herself up and we were soon back at Lagan Locks for a 'piece' and a hot flask.
The final leg back through the forest was tough on the climbs but we were soon back at the car and heading for Fort William for the nights tea.

A well earned rest at Laggan Locks.
