Windy round in the northern fells.
The back o'Skiddaw from Graet Calva.
A very windy morning changed our plans and we headed to Peter House Farm north of Skiddaw for a round in the northern fells. Headed up to Whitewater Dash waterfall and then climbed steeply up to Little Calva before heading into a strong southerly wind for Great Calva. The higher fells still have a good cover of snow but it was much milder despite the wind.
From Great Calva we headed for Knott followed by Great Sca Fell, Meal Fell and Great Cockup. The wind was especially strong as we climbed out of Trusmadoor gap towards Great Cockup and on a couple of occasions we had to 'link up' to stop Susan being blown over.
We had some excellent views across the Solway as we descend and were able to pick out some snow covered hills in the Southern Uplands. A grand day out despite the wind.
